Choose your shade of white with care, and pay attention to the other accessories in the room.

Contemporary Bathroom with Black Vanity and Quartz Countertop

A white ceiling maximizes the open feeling by reflecting natural light. Create dimension and texture in a white space by mixing tiles. Here, walls wrapped in white subway tiles mingle with marble tile floors. A rich brown wall color and handsome walnut vanity balance the white backdrop and make the room feel cozy. The floor mimics the delicate line of brown tile on the upper walls with a band of dark marble. Pulled from the marble that appears throughout the space, soft grays and crisp whites make this neutral bathroom a relaxing retreat.

Rustic Elegance

Sure, bold colors pack a visual punch, but there's something about the crisp, polished simplicity of white. Use these white bathroom ideas to create a clean look and a calming atmosphere. The bright neutral is anything but basic and makes for a sparkling space when paired with other neutral hues.

Transitional Bathroom with Herringbone and Chevron Backsplash

By elevating vanities and cabinets off the floor, the perception of more space is created, giving your bathroom an expansive, airy ambiance. It’s a mesmerizing ballet of design and utility, beckoning one to experience the magic of innovation. Every reflective surface, every radiant touch, dances with the light, making the bathroom a symphony of creativity and luminous charm. From traditional and classic to modern and daring, these stunning bath spaces are filled with the very best decorating ideas. “Don’t assume that because the bath is white you need to impose colored towels,” Sallick says. Instead, stick with something simple—like white towels with a faint color scheme. Fireplaces are luxurious in any room, but they’re particularly luxurious in bathrooms—one of the last places you expect to find them.

Scandinavian White Bathroom with Wood Vanity and Subway Backsplash

Hand towels don’t usually make much of a statement, but since white bathrooms are so pared-down, even subtle towels get the chance to stand out. Bathroom floors can get cold and slick, so look for ways to soften yours up. By lining your floors with a cozy white bath mat or a textured white rug, you can make your bathroom cozier, while cementing your all-white palette.

As the smooth, rounded pebbles massage your feet, every inch of the space exudes a spa-like ambiance. Coupled with a minimalist or boho-chic design, limewash concrete flooring ushers in a haven where tranquility meets artistry. Without the calming blue Lee Jofa wallpaper, this white bathroom would still be a stunner. Other graphic elements include the tile floor pattern and the pairing of two stones covering the walls.

The white-on-gray design keeps things neutral and playful at the same time. The primary bath’s tub is from the early 20th century and the oak cabinet is antique, both fitting for this 1910 Connecticut cottage. The soaring ceilings in this Alys Beach, Florida, primary bathroom bring the drama in a big way and make room for unique lighting from Apparatus. The draped pendants provide soft curves against the bathroom's hard edges. If storage space is limited in your bathroom, snag a mirror that doubles as a medicine cabinet. Just make sure the cabinet is white, and you’ll end up with an accent that’s both pretty and practical.

When designing a bathroom, snagging a bold tub is always a good idea. When your palette is so pared-down, every piece gets a chance to shine. So that pretty tub you’re eyeing will stand out even more than it otherwise would.

Color doesn’t have to be off-limits in your all-white bathroom, but if you want to keep the space looking mostly white, pick a single accent color and stick with it. Bypass bold hues and embrace crisp, polished simplicity with these white bathroom ideas. It’s an ambiance of serenity and elegance, effortlessly marrying function with form. When one thinks of a bathroom as not just a utility space but a canvas of creativity, white window shutters emerge as the masterpiece in the gallery. A fun, flirty flamingo-patterned Sanderson wallpaper above a tub by Waterworks nods to this home's tropical Palm Beach setting.

Marble floor tiles provide a nice transition between white and black. Modern white bathrooms often embrace sleek, minimalist designs. Consider white subway tiles in unexpected patterns, such as herringbone or vertical stacks, for a contemporary twist. Incorporate matte black or brushed metal fixtures for a striking contrast against the white backdrop.

In this bathroom white vanity paired with the concrete countertop, black wall-mounted faucets, vessel sinks, and oversized frameless mirror. Marble floor tiles bring elegance while white hexagon wall tiles creating a clean backdrop. Black vanity with white quartz countertop breaks the domination of the white in the atmosphere and makes a modern touch with its clean lines. White tile, freestanding bathtub, and frameless glass door of the bath area create a bright and spacious atmosphere.

Above the built-in tub, recessed open shelves are lined with white and metallic accents, keeping the color palette front and center. Embark on a sensory journey as you step into a white bathroom adorned with 3D textured tiles. These aren’t just any tiles; they’re a tactile experience, an invitation to touch, and a treat for the eyes. With every glance, the textures come alive, creating patterns that seem to dance off the walls, capturing the essence of modern creativity. Stepping into a pristine white bathroom can feel like a dream, but introducing wood accents can elevate that dream to a whole new realm.

Wood shaker vanity paired with quartz countertop, marble backsplash, circular mirror, and a black wall-mounted lighting fixture. White freestanding bathtub makes a modern touch with its clean lines. A white bathroom not only creates the illusion of more space but also creates a clean and inviting atmosphere.

Upgrade bathtime by building a fireplace next to your tub, and outfit your fireplace with stunning white details, like an ornate mantel and some minimalist art. Add some flair to your bathroom by lining your walls with printed wallpaper. If you’ve put lots of effort into crafting the perfect white shower, show off your work. Trade the traditional shower curtain for a glass shower door that will put your masterpiece on display.

"Our House" is a song written by British singer-songwriter Graham Nash and recorded by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on their album Déjà Vu (1970). The song, "an ode to countercultural domestic bliss", was written while Nash was living with Joni Mitchell, recording both Crosby, Stills & Nash and Déjà Vu. “Momma was a cold drinker in the ’70s,” Snoop Dogg told Thrillist in 2017 during a rollout for a famous brand of gin the rapper was promoting, on the origin of his cruising classic. “They used to have parties at the house in the living room with a bar, with the 8-track cassette player. Dan Aykroyd sings along to the song while cleaning the house in one of the opening scenes of the 1994 film My Girl 2. A portion of the song's lyrics were spoken in The Simpsons episode "Bart After Dark" by Reverend Lovejoy, as well as played in the episode "Milhouse of Sand and Fog", while Milhouse is daydreaming.

From the perspective of popularity, this synth-funk track from the Eddie Murphy comedy “Beverly Hills Cop” is hardly in the pantheon. But in its own way, “Don’t Get Stopped in Beverly Hills” was a protest song, a not-so-subtle indictment of the police’s practice of stopping commuters cruising through the tony town for little more than driving while black. As delivered by then-Shalamar lead singer Jody Watley, the song addressed, in its own subtle way, the racial disharmony that plagued the region in the early ’90s. Last year, Wainwright recalled to The Times the circumstances that led to his song, written when he was a few months shy of 30 years old. 79 Floor Tile Pattern Ideas To Elevate Any Space

Before that, I studied Journalism and English Literature at New York University. I’ve moved around quite a bit in the last several years, most recently making the trip to London, and love transforming each new space into a comfortable retreat that feels like home. When it comes to decor, I’m most drawn to unique vintage finds and calming colors.

What is the best color for kitchen tiles?

The result is a blend of old-world and new that strikes a beautiful balance in my designs,' says interior designer Becky Shea. Do you want to upgrade your home with kitchen tiles for floors and backsplashes and need ideas on the right products to choose from? You may feel stuck wondering which type of tile to use because of diverse materials and peculiar features. Similar to porcelain tile pavers placed with space in between them, the stepping stone pattern creates the look of, well, stepping stones.

Playful Patterned Cement

That’s a beautiful thing, so instead of hiding the tonal differences that appear in your tiles, make a feature of them. To reflect ample light back into the room and bring an uplifting feel, consider using an off white design as demonstrated here in this kitchen addition. The only caveat is that your walls (or floors) have to be as flat and even as a pancake to take tiles this size... The wooden worktop and shelf bring out the natural shades of the tiles creating a calming, zen-like quality in this space. A top kitchen trend, geometric tiles add dynamic, yet reassuring pattern repeats wherever they go - in subtle or dynamic effect depending on design and preference.

Kitchen Floor Ideas That Are Stylish and Functional

Evocative of sun-drenched lands, elevate your country kitchen with the earthy, baked goodness of distinctively pigmented terracotta tiles. This unique clay material is perfect for creating a tactile surface on floors and walls, abundant in welcoming warmth. Past years had their herringbone moments for backsplashes and bathroom designs—usually in conjunction with subway tile—but there's a warming trend around matte natural stone herringbone. It's a bit more fresh, modern, and understated, which are all reasons we're flocking to this look.

What kind of flooring is best for a kitchen?

The wall tiles are of a custom design, and the eye-catching hand-poured terrazzo floor was influenced by the late-19th-century Villa San Michele on the island. If you’re looking for a French touch in your cooking space, take a page out of ELLE DECOR A-List Titan Robert Couturier’s book. In this charming Manhattan townhouse, he paved the floor in a country-chic pattern of red and white cement tiles. In designing Cameron Diaz’s New York pad, ELLE DECOR A-List Titan Kelly Wearstler chose a black stained option, the perfect balance to all of the jewelry-box tones around it. Opt for a parquet pattern—as shown in the Brooklyn home of Mars Hobrecker and Coco Romack—which achieves a similar visual effect as tile but without all of those pesky grout lines. Another large-format tile we're loving lately is a simple mid-tone grey, again finished with some particularities and variegation in shade.

Elegant Mosaic Shapes

When working in a small space, you want some of your design finishes to simply fade into the background so others can take center stage without causing visual overwhelm. Karen Kane's Pacific Palisades home designed by Mark D. Sikes is a delightful balance of Old World Mediterranean meets California cool. Worn terra-cotta and blue tiled floors, along with the oil-rubbed bronze hardware, makes this kitchen feel as if it was built 100 years ago, not in the '80s. Designer Vasi Ypsilantes made the most of this small kitchen by eschewing upper cabinetry to make the space feel open and airy. Large black tiles, leather counter stools, and a wrought iron light fixture bring a streamlined sense of masculine refinement while still feeling like a comfortable place to gather at the end of the day.

The kitchen is the most visited and commonly used room in any home and is very important to increase its visual appeal and usability.

Choose a Herringbone Layout

It also has the resemblance of popular stones and clays such as granite, marble, travertine, and terracotta. Reference our template of tile layout patterns for some of the most popular patterns. Then, add your personal touch for a beautiful, durable floor that will stand up to years under your feet. The accent insert border contains rows of mosaic subway tile, which a simple row of square tiles then borders. Outline your tile pattern with small vertical rectangle tiles, and use a chevron-like design for the corners.

Black and White Penny Tile

We love how elegant it looks on this kitchen wall, but it would also be charming as floor tile. It goes without saying that kitchen flooring ideas need to look great, but also need to be durable, hardwearing and easy to clean. Choosing or changing the flooring in your kitchen is one of the most consequential design decisions that you can make. Colorful or patterned tiles can create an edgy modern look or function as a focal point.

That is why your kitchen deserves the best tile material possible to make it not only habitable but also beautiful. Outline your tile pattern with small horizontal rectangle tiles, and use square tiles for the corners. Think of it as repeated shapes making a pattern combined with other repeated shapes, also making a pattern. In the example above, follow your eye across the square tiles and then the rectangular tiles and notice the overall pattern created by alternating the square and rectangular tiles. The hopscotch pattern comprises a combination of large and small squares that create a playful, interlocking design.

An inset tile pattern provides the same look (without the constant stain treatments). 'In this bathroom, we selected a zellige type tile in cream and navy to create the high contrast and visual interest,'  she adds. 'Whether you choose to go with the more classic selection of the two on the floor or walls is up to you. A timeless material takes on a colorful new look with 28 standard colors to choose from. The kitchen is usually wet and you need linen texture ceramic tile there for the superior grip it provides.

The architectural elements, bar stools, and floor tiles all speak to the Art Deco movement while managing to feel deliciously modern. The streamlined pattern on these oversized tiles—geometric thin white lines on a rich gray background—adds an organic element to the minimalist design of this white, black, and gray kitchen. Saltillo tile flooring in bathroom is low maintenance and it freshens up the space.

Tiles add value to the kitchen or any section of the home in almost no maintenance. Installation of tiles can get done in a lower budget than other flooring options. Using tiles in a home is one of the ways of increasing the value of a home and an investment that yields its return over time. Tiles can be used on the floor and walls of the kitchen to improve the visual appeal of the kitchen and make it more exquisitely beautiful.

When there’s no clear delineation between spaces in an open floor plan, it can sometimes be difficult to know where your kitchen tile should end and the rest of your flooring should begin. For a creative mashup, take a page out of KozyKasa designer Kristin Marino’s playbook and blend the two flooring styles together. By staggering the hex tile at the entrance to the kitchen, she was able to blur the boundaries between the two rooms and allow the unique shape of the tile to stand out. Choosing the right kitchen flooring is imperative for making this space feel warm and inviting—especially if you love to cook and will be on your feet often in this area. Please make sure to stop by our Award Winning Showrooms to pick out your next saltillo floor tiles and saltillo sealer. We carry a large array of Mexican Talavera Designs in stock at our Canoga Park location in several popular sizes.

She also works on the homes brands' video show, on the Future Homes Network, which is packed full of ideas to help you make the most of your own home and garden. Since getting on the property market with her first apartment and then more recently a house, her passion for interior design and gardening has taken on a new lease of life. She loves collecting and salvaging unique items (much to her other half's despair) but sniffing out stylish home bargains is her one true love. “Hollywood has a very important significance for us,” bassist Hernán Hernandez told Miranda. His song "Into The Night" is one of the most-played of all time. We ring the Hell's Bells to see what songs and rockers are sincere in their Satanism, and how much of it is an act. Presenters for the night will include  Alok Vaid-Menon, Regina King, Daniels, Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria, Jon M. Chu and Lulu Wang. The list highlights the 100 most impactful Asian Pacific changemakers in culture and society over the past year. Create a feature wall with small terrazzo tiles

If you’re looking for the ultimate way to flex your creative muscles, opt for custom penny tile in your kitchen. Here, the design team at Gordon Dunning Interior Design used black hex penny tiles and a graphic medallion pattern to mimic the look of a “runner” in this classic black and white kitchen. To keep the airy feel, Downing opted for a matte porcelain tile, which can mimic the look of covetable travertine but adds loads more durability. Designer Bunny Williams creates a warm and welcoming kitchen by utilizing nostalgic yet timeless elements. A black-and-white hexagonal mosaic tile feels right at home in this beautiful cooking area and breakfast nook and it makes an excellent pairing with the retro-inspired ceiling light fixtures. In any scheme, pairing the right floor tiles and wall tiles together is important to achieve the aesthetic you're hoping for.

However, keep in mind that although we’ve listed more patterns than you probably imagined existed, they’re just the tip of the iceberg. You can combine different tile shapes and sizes in any layout, and the patterns and natural looks of tiles can also affect what these layouts look like. Additionally, grout choice can impact an installation significantly by enhancing or subduing the pattern. For those looking for an organic, earthy take on tile, look no further than Zellige.

However, it's far wiser to choose a cabinet style, material and color that suits your the rest of your home's period, style and color scheme, then base your tile color around that. If you’re looking to totally transform your kitchen and fancy adding a marble touch, then new marble tiles will provide the perfect backdrop to a contemporary or country kitchen. Coveted for its subtle tone and beautiful veined effect, you can see why marble is such a hit – it looks good wherever it’s put and will continue to look striking year after year. Terrazzo floors were the perfect choice to create a cohesive look, and they pair fabulously with the Bardiglio marble used throughout the space. We love this kitchen design from Fran Keenan that belongs in a 1920s Los Angeles home that finds inspiration from both California and across the pond. Here, this elegant kitchen features black and white checkered tile which acts as a lovely juxtaposition to the walls and cabinetry that are swathed in Farrow & Ball's Castle Grey. A classic rectangle-shaped tile feels crisp and modern in double-sized dimensions. The longer, wider area of each tile minimizes grout lines, keeping the overall look of this black-and-white kitchen chic and streamlined.

Kitchen Flooring Beyond Tile

At our Kitchen tile store, we sell only high-quality tiles to meet the demands of our customers. All our products are topnotch and improve the aesthetics and functionalities of their homes. Resembling traditional white picket fences, picket fence tile can be laid horizontally or vertically. This pattern is ideal for circular spaces or anywhere you want to draw attention to a central focal point.

Though natural stone has often been considered a substitute for classic tile backsplash in kitchen designs, designers say slab or stone tiles are set to be big in 2024. Andrea says she's 'loving the all slab look in kitchens' and expects the trend will only grow from here. To get a better sense of what's new in the world of kitchen tiles, we spoke to interior designers – and they shared their secrets. These are the top 10 kitchen tile trends that interior designers say are all the rage for 2024. Whether you prefer bold colors, geometric shapes or something a bit more sustainable, there's truly an option for everyone. Tile will always be a go-to when it comes to the kitchen, making the perfect backsplash or flooring material in any space.

Take minty fresh and soothing sage inspirations from the herb garden and onto walls or floors with these nature-derived hues that calm the soul and feed the mind. Think outside of the box (shape) with shapely designs that feature edgy shapes and formats. There are few rooms that can excite the senses like the kitchen, and few features spice up a cooking space like an amazing kitchen floor. In keeping with the design world's current obsession with natural stone and elegant veining, our favorite checkerboard motifs of the moment pair brilliant white marble and deep black. Evoke an industrial-chic masterpiece within your kitchen through the raw allure of concrete floor tiles. Every step becomes an exploration of urban sophistication, where the rough edges of raw concrete seamlessly intertwine with your culinary haven.

Lay the stacks of tile vertically to create an upward sense of motion that visually helps elongate a space. The diagonal grid tile pattern turns the straight lay tile pattern on its head 45 degrees, shifting the focus of any small room with the pattern’s widening angles. If you want a little more visual interest with the same ease of installation as the straight lay tile pattern, the diagonal grid tile pattern does the trick.

Using two different-sized tiles allows the smaller decorative pieces to have their moment without feeling too busy. The same kitchen tile has been used in four different colors to create an irregular pattern of blue-toned colors. While this detail adds interest to the kitchen, using blue hues has a calming effect. From complimentary colors to a mix of old and new, these tile combinations have been recommended by interior designers who prove they work beautifully in any scheme. Tiles are suitable for kitchen walls and floors or home finishing as it is very easy to clean and bacteria free too. You spend most of the time in your kitchen where your body, soul, and mind desire.

If you want the look of hardwood floors in your kitchen but are concerned about durability and maintenance in a high-traffic area prone to spills, consider installing wood-look tile instead. Luxury vinyl tile, like the Madera Miel shown here, is durable and easy to install—perfect for a DIY project—and can easily be extended outside of the kitchen. Just as dynamic as small hexagons, large hexagon tile is an on-trend classic we're loving this year.

Kitchen floor tiles suitable for indoor and outdoor use are becoming increasingly popular in kitchens as we seek to use patios as an extension of open plan kitchens and living spaces. Tile is among the best options for kitchen flooring, as the kitchen is a room of the house that not only sees a lot of footfall but also the occasional messy accident. More durable than the likes of hardwood, vinyl and laminate, tiles also tend to be more waterproof and generally easier to clean. Want to make your kitchen island idea the dazzling star of the show (okay, scheme)? Amp up its ‘flock and gather’ status for cooking and socializing with feature tile patterns that create a practical rug effect, adding color and interest from below. We love the hypnotic blue-patterned floor tiles by Emery & Cie that English firm Retrouvius used in the kitchen of this London townhouse.

Tennessee passes bill to allow armed teachers in public schools

Iowa’s governor signed a bill that the Legislature passed last week creating a professional permit for trained school employees to carry at schools that protects them from criminal or civil liability for use of reasonable force. A palette of whites, deep blues, and gold creates an elegant atmosphere in the formal living room, which was designed by Rachel Duarte. The designer established two seating areas within the space, including a cozy gathering spot with chaise longues that flank the original carved marble fireplace. The room’s coffered ceilings were enhanced with a faux-wood decorative painting by Jhon Ardilla. The designers worked with a color palette of Dunn-Edwards paints, and several chose to highlight the brand’s 2024 Color of the Year, a steely blue called Skipping Stones. Nods to Pasadena’s famous peacocks can be found throughout the designs, and many creators fearlessly brought in statement floors, enveloped their spaces with jewel tones, and added texture to ceilings.

At one point during the demonstrations, tensions escalated as protesters refused to relocate and remove their tents and other prohibited items, a university official said. Designer Karen Billman made Dunn-Edwards’s Skipping Stones the star of her cheery sunroom. She complimented the vibrant hue with metallic accents, Roman shades in a Morris & Co. fabric, and chairs upholstered in a moss green textile by Wesley Hall Fabrics.

By drawing on designs with timeless appeal, we seek to reimagine the familiar. A spokesperson for Republican Gov. Bill Lee did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether he planned to sign the measure. He can either sign the bill or allow it to become law without his signature. Republican state Rep. Ryan Williams on Tuesday said the bill would bolster school safety. Other buildings on the campus in Arcata are at risk of being occupied, and protesters “have shown a willingness” to lock themselves in facilities and steal equipment, the officials said.

Reviews From Schools in Los Angeles

An office space in the Gatehouse is now a soothing spa-inspired lounge designed by Margaret Lalikian. The designer referenced the house’s original name, El Robles—Spanish for oak tree—with a tree-filled landscape mural by Arpy Dabbaghian. “For the wall mural, I had to pick something to bring them into nature and a calming environment,” Lalikian says. When the Peases’ landlord objected to their home nursery school, the couple moved to the house on Highland Avenue -- then a quiet street lined by small homes.

Four House Republicans and all Democrats opposed the bill, which the state Senate previously passed. The measure would bar disclosing which employees are carrying guns beyond school administrators and police, including to students’ parents and even other teachers. A principal, school district and law enforcement agency would have to agree to let staff carry guns. Meanwhile, shortly after the shooting last year, Tennessee Republicans passed a law bolstering protections against lawsuits involving gun and ammunition dealers, manufacturers and sellers. Lawmakers and the governor this year have signed off on allowing private schools with pre-kindergarten classes to have guns on campus. Private schools without pre-K already were allowed to decide whether to let people bring guns on their grounds.

Culture & Safety

“I wanted you to feel like you were transported to another time and place,” Scheff says. The Board of Trustees is aware that our modest tuition model may be out of reach for some families. Accordingly, the Board is working to develop a tuition assistance plan for the school, K-8. In the interim, we ask that interested families contact the Head of School if they have questions about how to make the Schoolhouse education more accessible.

The only child of deaf parents, Ruth Stover was born in Ashland, Neb., and raised in Atlantic, Iowa. From the age of 4 she communicated on behalf of her parents with the hearing world. She made her first move toward opening a school when she took care of toddlers at home in the early 1940s. Her concern about diversity was expressed early on and would continue throughout her tenure with the school. Together with her husband Robert, she set out to create a nurturing learning environment where students were encouraged to explore their world creatively, socially, and intellectually. Ruth believed that if you instilled children with self-confidence and curiosity, they would become lifelong learners.

“It was so much work, but it turned out beautiful.” The firm wanted the space to feel “light and airy and breezy,” and incorporated fabrics and wall coverings by Thibaut in a soft color palette. Peltier and designer Marina Kelly installed an arch to divide the bedroom from the sitting area, breaking up the large space. “I really feel like the dining room is a forgotten room,” says the designer, who set out to prove how vital the space is to a home. The room is anchored by a Riva 1920 table made with the wood of a 50,000-year-old Kauri tree, which Levine surrounded with seating for 12. Another seating area with views of the garden was designed for more intimate dining, games, or meetings, and it’s illuminated by a Murano glass chandelier.

Democratic state Rep. Bo Mitchell pushed back on the measure, referring to last year's Covenant School shooting in Nashville when three children and three adults were killed. Campus police announced earlier that anyone who stayed in the area would be subject to criminal trespass laws. The University of Texas at Austin Police Department said in a statement on X Wednesday evening that "the dispersal order at the South Mall has ended. All University rules are still in effect."

CT, 34 arrests have been made by law enforcement on the UT Austin campus, according to an X post from the Texas Department of Public Safety. In an evening update, the Texas Department of Public Safety said that 34 arrests had been made by law enforcement on the campus as of 9 p.m. “I’m all about gardens connecting the architecture into the landscape,” landscape architect Timothy John Palcic tells AD PRO. He used a limited palette of chartreuse and dark hues that nod to the brick exterior and arranged benches to create intimate seating areas within the larger English-garden-inspired space. Designer Mark Hermogeno paid tribute to Silver Queen Susanna Bransford Emery-Holmes in the kitchen, butler’s pantry, family room, powder room, and mudroom. “We had thought, What if she actually came back to life and asked us to remodel the space?

“One of the main things we did was add a window seat, which looks like it should always have been here,” Slesinski says. “Our whole goal with this space was basically to turn the lights on in the room, bring in the garden that’s outside, and kind of have an experience of a breath of fresh air,” Brosio says. Cozy Stylish Chic Creative Director Jeanne K. Chung and designers Angela Lee and Caroline Meloche brightened the dark wood-paneled library to create a space where residents can unplug. Wallpaper was added to the ceiling and the backs of the bookcases, and heavy wood blinds were replaced with soft draperies and Roman shades to make the space feel lighter. The firm used a mix of fabrics and wall coverings by Ralph Lauren Home from Designers Guild throughout the space.

Most recently, Pease shared a house on campus with her daughter, son-in-law and their four children. Now there are five buildings and about 250 students in classes ranging from preschool to eighth grade. For years, she and her family lived off campus, but in 1968, a change in building codes required that the schoolhouse be torn down to be upgraded. After the school set down roots on Highland Avenue, it grew to include about 20 children. Over the years, parents included 1950s sex symbol actress Jayne Mansfield and a Mexican consular official at one end of the spectrum and people who cleaned houses for a living at the other, Wehbe said. We use FACTS to collect tuition, and also to bill families for use of our Extended Day Program.

“We wanted to concentrate on polished nickels and polished chromes to get that silver feel back in,” he says of the fixtures, hardware, and lighting by Kohler and Kallista. Hermogeno and designer Lynette Chin brought in a mix of vintage and new furnishings in the family room, incorporating performance fabrics for durability. “[We made] sure that it was a really usable room, that it didn’t just look nice,” Hermogeno says. As the Pasadena Showcase House of Design enters its 59th year, it’s returning to a familiar setting. The Potter Daniels Manor, the English Tudor Revival–style residence that hosted the 1975 and 1996 showcase houses, has been reimagined with 30 new interior and exterior spaces for the 2024 edition, which is now open until May 19.

A Thibault wall covering graces the entry, and a Fibreworks runner leads guests up the stairs. A brick-walled patio became a party-ready outdoor kitchen and dining area thanks to Douglas R. Santicola of Outdoor Elegance. Santicola and Monique Wood installed Caesarstone countertops fabricated by Carlito’s Way Stone to create a functional space for outdoor entertaining.

The board said it is "urgently working" with Shafik to resolve the unrest on campus and "rebuild the bonds of our community." The university "supports free speech through open dialogue that is respectful and constructive," the officials said. Graffiti described as “hateful” has been painted on campus, the officials said. Work and classes will remain remote, and officials are considering keeping the campus closed for longer. House Speaker Mike Johnson called Wednesday for the resignation of the university’s president if she can't "bring order to this chaos." The university closed its campus Wednesday evening as LAPD began arresting demonstrators.

I assume the tarps mentioned by other visitors were for renovations by the new owner. It’s often thought that the final scene in the movie, where One-Eyed Willie’s ship sails into the sunset, was not shot at Indian Beach. In fact, the final scene from the Goonies was shot at Goat Rock Beach in California.

"When I got the news that I was officially under contract with the Goonies House, it was the day before Thanksgiving," he recalled during a phone interview with FOX Business on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Zakeri said he received social media and text prompts from close friends who knew he was a fan of the 1985 film. Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman discusses the ongoing battle within the Republican Party to elect a House Speaker and the anticipated impact it could have on the real estate industry. In the film, which was directed by Richard Donner and written by Chris Columbus from a story by Steven Spielberg, the home belonged to Mikey (Sean Astin) and his big brother Brandon (Josh Brolin). Nearly 40 years after finding fame in The Goonies, an iconic Oregon home in the "Goondocks" has a new owner, who promises to be a steward of its legacy. The actual house was finished in 1886 by a wealthy entrepreneur, Captain George Flavel and is now home to a museum about the Captain Flavel and the area.

"This is one of many ways that I would like to help serve and inspire others — by being able to let fans connect with their childhood passion, their dream, their love of ‘The Goonies’ and all that stuff." "I feel in my heart that this house and this property is meant to be shared — to make so many people happy," Zakeri said. Still, Zakeri and his family are happy to welcome movie fans who stop by for photo opportunities. When Zakeri and his family aren’t residing in the Goonies house, he hopes the home can serve as an investment property. "All my businesses are here, my family's here, my friends are here." Zakeri and his family plan to live in the home a few times throughout the year, but their primary residence will remain in Kansas.

Because of its location, it is impossible to see the house from the street below. There are also a bunch of no parking signs on the street, so the city has cracked down on visitors to the Walsh Home. Goonies never say die, so I’m holding out hope that someday it’ll be visitor friendly again. They’re older than me, right, they’re 3,4,5 years older, and I think Josh Brolin is probably 6, 7 years old. So you look up to older kids when you’re a little boy like that and you’re seeing what they’re doing and I just wanted to be them, and I wanted to find a treasure map, and I wanted to chase after this treasure with my friends.

Even without the Goonies sights the city of Astoria is a beautiful little town and is worth a visit anyway. Jordan Miller of John L. Scott Real Estate said the sale is expected to close in mid January, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. The new owner, a self-described serial entrepreneur, will make his name known at that time, Miller said. The restored private residence was listed for sale at $1.65 million in November by John L. Scott Real Estate and an offer was accepted six days later. "My friendships from childhood have played a crucial role in shaping who I am and helping me achieve my goals," Zakeri said.

Well everybody has suggested Airbnb, suggested renting it, has suggested turning it into a museum, but what they don’t realize is we’re in a residential neighborhood, so because of that, we can’t do the museum thing. It would have to take the city wanting to do that and I’m not wanting to do that today. We got to make sure that nothing’s ever mistreated and things like that. The house that served as the focal point of the 1985 movie “The Goonies” is perhaps Astoria’s best-known landmark. It’s certainly been a draw for fans and tourists who come to pay homage.

The terrific view of the beach and its landmark Haystack Rock, is from the forested Ecola State Park Road to the north. The abandoned old café used as a hideout by the Fratellis was built specially for the film in the park. The Walsh house, from which Mikey (Sean Astin) and his family are due to be evicted, is th Street, off Franklin Avenue, near Columbia Field, to the east of town.
